After the death of her parents, the five-year-old Heidi initially lives with her aunt Dete. When she found a new job in Frankfurt am Main, she took little Heidi to her grandfather in the Swiss mountains. At first, the sullen Alm-Öhi can't do anything with his granddaughter, but after a short time the happy girl conquers the old man's heart with her loving nature. Heidi and her grandfather live happily in the alpine hut for many years, take care of the animals and enjoy the carefree life in nature.
